ParkTrends Observatory

This line of research mainly focuses on the:

  • Creation of geodatabases and decision-support GIS for effective ecosystem management.

  • Use of GIS Spatial Analysis and modeling techniques to find patterns in the distribution of plant communities, habitat disturbance, habitat loss, habitat structure mapping, conservation gaps, and wildlife habitat suitability.

Remote sensing of plant-animal interactions

This line of research mainly focuses on the development of remote sensing  and data analysis techniques to understand spatial and temporal trends in ecological processes such as leaf, flowering and fruiting phenology; tree mortality, succession following disturbance, edge effects, plant-animal interactions, among others.
