The following map reports the location of forest loss events observed annually for the period 2001-2023 inside and outside (25 km buffer) of the Puuc Biocultural State Reserve.
Forest loss events were detected through the analysis of time series of satellite imagery collected by NASA Earth Observation sensors Landsat TM, ETM+ and OLI at a spatial resolution of 30 m per pixel. The analysis was performed by the Geospatial Technologies Lab at Texas Tech University and the GIS and Remote Sensing Lab of the Yucatan Center for Scientific Research.
